Many members left the SDA church because of this book. To some this was also the beginning of the SDA church trying to appear mainstream. Today we see the results: many people are fooled that the SDA church is evangelical, SDAs who feel they are the remnant are dissatisfied that PR/”outreach” like this compromises their faith, and splinter groups also arise as well
